Pricing & Frequently Asked Questions

Vitals

What's your pricing like?

Every project we receive is individually priced based on complexity. Many JavaScript projects can be accomplished by different methods - so we may offer multiple solutions and costs for each project. Although none of these solutions will be inferior, some may offer greater benefits than the alternative.

What exactly is JavaScript and what is it for?

JavaScript is the secret sauce that makes the web feel alive and responsive—think of fades, drag-and-drop doodads, and dynamically resorting lists. These features and many others like them are all made possible by JavaScript. Because of the tactile aliveness that JavaScript offers to the user interface, it has become ubiquitous in the modern web—from Gmail to The New York Times, from Facebook to YouTube.

Our average turnaround is 50 hours or about 2 days. However, this figure is an average, and if your project is more complex than the usual, your turnaround time will be longer. Don’t worry, though—you'll get a solid completion time before you spend a dime.

Where are you based?

Our team members are based in Australia (HQ), Belarus, UK and the US.

When are you on duty?

Being a global team means we can be on duty 24 hours a day, on both weekdays and weekends. (Keep in mind we work at a reduced capacity on Sundays.)

Projects

What kind of projects do you usually take on?

Projects we work on fall into at least one of the following categories:

  • Design To /
You have a design for your webpage, you want us to code it into HTML/CSS and add JavaScript to it.
  • Bring your own code /
You have a webpage that’s already coded, you want us to add JavaScript to it.
  • Integration /
You like a premade plugin on another site and you need it implemented, as is, or customized to your own design or specifications.
  • Bespoke /
You want a custom plugin built to your specifications.
  • Standalone /
You want a standalone script or plugin developed with JavaScript

What do you need from me to get a project started?

We require at least one of the following, along with your specifications:

  • Any design files for your site, especially those that show the elements that our team will be modifying. See further guidelines below.
  • Your own markup (HTML and CSS files), if any exists already.

Guidelines for design files

Please include:

  • A flat image of the design in PNG or JPEG format.
  • A layered source file in either, Photoshop (.PSD) or Illustrator (.AI) format with the dynamic elements (like hovers) somehow made obvious to us. Our suggestion: two versions of the file, one with all dynamic elements (like rollovers) hidden, and a matching one with these elements visible.
  • Any fonts that are not web safe Also, please specify if you want us to implement those fonts as images or Sifr / Cufon

Guidelines for project brief

When telling us about your project, it may be good to:

  • Provide URLs to sites that have effects and features similar to what you are looking to have on yours. Please be as specific as possible when describing which facet of the site you wish to direct our attention to.
  • Describe any effects and features that you hope our services will add to your site, in as much detail as you can.
  • URLs to any specific plugins you'd like us to use, if any.

Do you convert designs into HTML and CSS without adding JavaScript?

We do not offer standalone design-to-HTML conversion service without a JavaScript component to the project for new customers. (If we’ve worked together before and you’re in our system, we can usually work something out.)

Code

Which JavaScript libraries do you work with?

We work with jQuery, moo.fx, MochiKit, YUI, and Prototype. We can also work with plain old JavaScript. Don’t worry about knowing which library is best in advance—we can figure that out when you send us your specifications.

What about revisions?

We will not add new features or make any changes outside the original scope of the project without renegotiating price, deadlines and deliverables.

However, if there are mistakes—bugs, or features that were not implemented according to the specifications—we will correct them whenever they are found, regardless of the project's status.

We also allow room for small changes or tweaks like say the speed and acceleration of a JavaScript animation.

What about browser support? Which browsers can you make guarantees about?

We test our work in Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 2 and 3, Chrome and Safari 4 and 5. We won’t ship code if it doesn't work in all of these browsers. Additional browser testing and support can be provided upon request.

What are your quality control practices?

For every project we ship, we make sure that:

  • The webpage looks exactly like the original design.
  • Any HTML and CSS files that we generate conform to W3C standards.
  • The JavaScript is fine-tuned to reduce load times and increase in-browser performance.
  • Any markup and code (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) that we generate work in Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 2 and 3, and Safari 4 and 5.
Please note: if there are HTML, CSS and JavaScript files included in your project from the start, we can’t vouch for their compliance with standards or stability unless explicitly requested.
